The Essex Energy Switch is back and could be the ideal opportunity to save money on your energy bills. Energy bills seem to be on the rise year after year and it’s important to compare providers and look at the best ways to save money.
The Essex Energy Switch is a collective energy switching scheme with support from iChoosr – for people and businesses who want to cut their energy bills.
Residents of Essex have between 3rd December 2014 and 2nd February 2015 to register their interest in possibly switching their energy supplier through the scheme – however there is no obligation to switch if you’re not happy with the price offered to you.
After the deadline, an auction will take place where energy companies will bid against each other to offer the lowest rate for gas and electricity contracts. Then on 13th February, you’ll receive an email containing a new gas and electricity offer – which is valid for one month and is calculated on your existing energy usage and costs. Following this offer, you can then decide if you would like to progress or stick with your current supplier.
Last year the Essex Energy Switch garnered 4,500 registrations with 30% switching and achieving an average saving of more than £200.
Anyone who pays an energy bill can take part, so homeowners, tenants and customers on pre-payment meters can all take part.
To make additional savings and enjoy a warmer home – there are other methods that can be put in place to make a substantial difference.
It is important to insulate your home as much as possible and keep as much heat as possible from escaping your home. One of the best ways to achieve this is to invest in double glazing or comfort glass which helps prevent heat escaping your home by providing a barrier of extra panes of glass and thin gaps filled with argon gas to keep the cold from creeping in and heat escaping. Ensuring your have a double glazed door can also help as well as other measures such as wall and roof insulation.
